WordPress Plugin Interface

Complete WordPress Installation Instructions

1. Download the KJV Bible Search WordPress Plugin ZIP using the download button above.
2. Do not manually extract the ZIP before uploading it through WordPress. WordPress installs the plugin directly from the ZIP package.
3. Log in to your WordPress administration dashboard.
4. Go to: Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
5. Click Choose File and select:
   kjv-bible-search.zip
6. Click Install Now.
7. When WordPress finishes installing the package, click Activate Plugin.
8. Create a new WordPress page, or open an existing page where you want the KJV Bible Search Engine to appear.
9. Add a Shortcode block in the WordPress editor.
10. Paste the following shortcode exactly:

[kjv_bible_search]

11. Save or publish the WordPress page.
12. Open the published page on the front end of your website. The full KJV Bible Search interface should now appear.
13. Test a Scripture reference such as Genesis 1:1 or John 3:16, then test a keyword search such as faith.
14. Test the Book → Chapter → Verse navigation, chapter navigation, COPY, SHARE, and Text-To-Speech controls.
15. If your WordPress website uses page caching, optimization, JavaScript defer/delay, CDN caching, or aggressive minification, clear those caches after activating or updating the plugin.
16. If a caching or optimization plugin changes the behaviour of the Bible Search interface, exclude the KJV Bible Search JavaScript files from aggressive delay/defer processing and test again.
17. Keep the plugin installed and activated while the shortcode is being used. Removing or deactivating the plugin will remove the Bible Search engine generated by the shortcode.

Once installed and activated, the shortcode can be placed on any WordPress page where you want the full KJV Bible Search interface to appear.

KJV Bible Search Universal Version — Live PWA

https://kjvbiblesearch.org/ is the official live KJV Bible Search Universal Version and the installable Progressive Web App (PWA).

You can use the complete Universal Version immediately online without downloading or uploading any files.

On supported browsers and devices, you can also install it directly from your browser as a standalone KJV Bible Search application for compatible mobile phones, tablets, desktop computers and laptops.

Once the required application resources and KJV Bible database have been cached on the device, the PWA can continue operating offline as well as online.

Browser installation options and available PWA capabilities depend on the browser and operating system being used. The downloadable Universal Version ZIP below is a separate option for users who want to host the Universal HTML version on their own website, server or compatible platform.

Complete Universal Version Installation Instructions

The Universal Version must be uploaded to a web server or hosting environment so its HTML, JavaScript and Bible JSON files can load together through normal HTTP/HTTPS requests.

1. Download the KJV Bible Search Universal Version ZIP using the button above.
2. Extract the ZIP file on your computer.
3. Create a dedicated folder on your website or hosting account. For example:

/kjv-bible-search-universal/

4. Upload the complete extracted package into that folder.
5. Keep the supplied folder and file structure intact. Do not move individual JavaScript, JSON, image, CSS or Bible-data files into unrelated folders unless you also deliberately update every path reference that depends on them.
6. The supplied package includes the main Universal Version files, including:
   
   index.html
universal.js
style.css
kjv_full.json
tts.js

copy-share.js

   the supplied KJV Bible Search logo/image assets
   README.txt
   and any additional supplied support files or folders.
7. Do not omit copy-share.js. It provides the COPY and SHARE functionality used by the Universal interface.
8. Do not omit tts.js. It provides the Text-To-Speech audio controls.
9. Do not omit floating-actions.js. It creates the floating COPY / SHARE interface used by the engine.
10. Do not omit kjv_full.json. It contains the Bible data used by the search engine.
11. After uploading the package, open the uploaded index.html through your actual website URL. For example:

12. Use the hosted HTTP/HTTPS URL when testing the Universal Version. Opening the package directly from your computer using a local file:// address may prevent browser security rules from allowing JavaScript to fetch the Bible JSON data correctly.
13. Confirm that the interface displays the message that the KJV Bible data has loaded and is ready to search.
14. Test a direct Scripture search such as Genesis 1:1.
15. Test a keyword search such as faith.
16. Test OLD TESTAMENT and NEW TESTAMENT expansion.
17. Test Book → Chapter → Verse navigation.
18. Test Previous Verse, Next Verse, Previous Chapter and Next Chapter navigation.
19. Test the Text-To-Speech audio controls.
20. Test the floating COPY button.
21. Test the floating SHARE button on a compatible browser or device.

Embedding the Universal Version Into Another Web Page

The safest platform-independent embedding method is to host the complete Universal Version in its own folder and embed the hosted index.html using an iframe.

Change the src value if you uploaded the Universal Version to a different folder or domain.

The iframe width should normally remain at 100%. Adjust the iframe height to suit the amount of Bible Search content you want visible on the host page.

If the Universal Version is hosted on a different domain from the page embedding it, that hosting environment must permit the page to be displayed inside an iframe.

Important File & Path Rules

• Upload the complete package, not only index.html.
• Keep JavaScript, CSS, JSON, images and other supplied dependencies in the locations expected by the supplied HTML.
• File names are case-sensitive on many web servers.
• Do not rename files unless you also update every matching reference.
• Do not remove copy-share.js if you want COPY and SHARE functionality.
• Do not remove tts.js if you want Text-To-Speech.
• Do not remove kjv_full.json if you want Scripture search functionality.
• HTTPS hosting is recommended for the complete browser experience, including modern Clipboard API behaviour.
• After replacing or updating files, clear your browser cache, hosting cache and CDN cache before testing the new version.

Using It With Website Builders

For website builders or hosted platforms that do not allow you to upload and execute a complete HTML / JavaScript application directly inside a page, first host the Universal Version on web hosting that serves the complete package, then embed that hosted URL using the platform's HTML, embed, iframe or custom-code feature where supported.
